LIVERPOOL are lining up Italy international Jorginho as a replacement for Emre Can.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also looking at Jorginho (right).

But Jurgen Klopp is confident Liverpool are in the frame for the £50million-rated Napoli midfielder.

NORTHERN Ireland keeper Trevor Carson remains committed to Motherwell – but admits he was flattered by Celtic’s interest in the January window.

The 30-year-old who has been in the form of his life this season - also jokingly revealed he had to tell fiancee Rachel to ditch expensive holiday ideas when the deal finally fell through.

Carson, who joined the Steelmen in June and has kept six clean sheets in his last 12 games, was the subject of a £375,000 bid from the Hoops on Deadline Day.

The well-travelled shot stopper, who has played for 10 clubs in England and Scotland, said: “It didn’t happen and it might be a once in a lifetime.

“Someone like Brendan Rodgers (inset) interested in you? You’ve got to be flattered.

“To have a club like Celtic after you, obviously you walk about a foot taller and the lads in training are talking about it.

“I might never get the chance again to play for a club like Celtic, who knows? But two months later, I’ve taken all the positives out of it. It was great to be linked with a club like Celtic.”

With potential “life changing money” disappearing on Deadline Day, Carson ended up playing a “game of let’s see what we could have bought” with his partner. He laughed: “Me and my missus were playing let’s see where we could have gone on holiday. Football’s such a short career and you’ve got to look out for yourself and your family.

“When the window was shut, I was trying to explain to her the window’s shut now.

“She was like ‘it might still happen today’. I said ‘no, that’s it done - put all those catalogues back!

“I just got my head around it straight away and moved on.”

Carson, who has been on the fringes of the Northern Ireland squad in recent times, hopes to win his first cap in Saturday’s friendly with the Korea Republic in Belfast.

He said: “It’s probably the first time I’ve come away and felt I’ve earned the call-up; I haven’t been waiting on big Roy Carroll pulling out, or Alan Mannus pulling out through injury.

“I feel like I’m here on merit and deserve to be here. That does give you a bit of confidence. My family has often joked that I’m cursed when it comes to Northern Ireland.

“I just feel any time I’ve been given a chance I’ve had an injury.

“Getting a cap for your country is the ultimate and I feel now I’m as close as I’ve been to my first cap.

“It’s great to be back after being out of the picture.

“It’s probably the main reason I went to Scotland, to get back in Michael’s mind.”
