Plane maker boost in row with Boeing
BOEING will not appeal a trade commission ruling allowing Bombardier to sell its C Series jets in the US, it emerged yesterday.
Sources close to workers at the firm’s Belfast plant said the move was not unexpected but is “welcome” nontheless.
The US International Trade Commission turned down a proposal to slap a near 300% duty on sales of the 110-to-130-seat C Series jets for five years.
The row had sparked jobs fears among 4,000 workers at the Belfast plant where the planes’ wing are manufactured.
MP Gavin Robinson said the announcement yesterday was “great news for Bombardier and brings an end to this long and difficult saga”.
