David: Death of last rhino is our fault
SIR David Attenborough has said the death of the last male northern white rhino is “another catastrophe and warning signal”.
The broadcaster, 91, was speaking after the death of Sudan, the 45-year-old last male of his species in Kenya this week.
He said the problems facing other endangered animals were “huge” as the world was so crowded.
Sir David, who was opening a dinosaur exhibition at Yorkshire Museum in York, said: “That’s another obituary you have to put down, another extinction which is our doing.
“We’ve being going on about the way in which human beings have been exterminating species for a long time. There is not the space for things.”
