KI SALUTES THE HOOPS

- BY STEVEN BEACOM

FORMER Celtic star Ki Sung-yeung believes the current Hoops side under Brendan Rodgers is superior to the team he played in when Neil Lennon was boss.

The South Korean midfielder, now with Swansea City, continues to follow the club’s fortunes six years after he left Parkhead.

Set to captain South Korea today at Windsor Park, Ki (left) admits he misses his ex-boss Lennon, now in the Hibs hotseat. He said: “I had a very good relationship with Neil Lennon. He was a little bit angry and aggressive but he was a really good coach and he was a hero at Celtic. I miss him sometimes.”

The 29-year-old insists however that Rodgers’ present day squad are better than the side he so enjoyed playing in.

He added: “I think the current team is much better than when I was there. Brendan Rodgers is the manager who has made the team really competitive.”
