Accused facing 8 charges denied bail
A WOMAN has gone into labour after being attacked in an alleged aggravated burglary of her home.
A 35-year-old man was denied bail after appearing in court yesterday in connection with the alleged incident in Newcastle, Co Down.
Danny Drew Gibney faces eight charges including aggravated burglary with intent to inflict GBH, attempted GBH with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He is also accused of threats to kill, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and threats to damage property.
A police officer told Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court the heavily pregnant woman, who attempted to barricade herself into a room with her child during the reported break-in, has since gone into labour.
