MUM DIES 17 MONTHS AFTER ATTACK Tributes to brain-damaged Joleen as ex awaits trial over attempted murder
Mum, 27, passes away 17 months after ‘attack’
A YOUNG mum of one left paralysed and brain damaged by an alleged assault has died surrounded by her family at a hospice.
Joleen Corr, who was left in a vegetative state in December 2016, had her food and drink withdrawn following a landmark court ruling in Belfast.
Sister Cherie wrote: “Our beautiful Joleen passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother at 1.50am.”
The 27-year-old’s ex-partner Michael O’connor was charged with attempted murder and is awaiting trial.
JOLEEN Corr has died “in the arms of her mother” 17 months after an alleged attack left her paralysed and brain damaged.
A Northern Ireland judge allowed the mum-of-one’s food and drink to be withdrawn because of the severe pain she was suffering.
The 27-year-old was surrounded by her family at the Belfast Hospice where she passed in the early hours of Thursday.
She has been described as “the most beautiful, kind, considerate, loving girl who has gained her angel wings”.
Her sister Cherie posted on Facebook: “Our beautiful Joleen Corr passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother and surrounded by loved ones at 1.50am.
“Words will never describe how much we all love her and how much we will miss her. RIP with your granny Patsy.”
Mallon Funeral Directors said details of her service have yet to be released.
Joleen’s obituary stated: “Joleen Corr passed away peacefully at NI Hospice surrounded by her loving family 26th April 2018. Devoted daughter of Carol and Joe and loving sister of Cherie, Jim, Chloe and

Many took to social media to share their condolences with the Corr family.
One well-wisher wrote: “Deepest sympathy to Carol and the Corr family on the sad passing of Joleen RIP.”
Another posted: “Thoughts and prayers with the Corr family at this sad time – she fought to the end. Rest in peace Joleen.”
Downpatrick Parish and the Gaelic football team, for which her sister plays, also paid tribute to “forever young” Joleen.
A message on its Facebook page said: “We offer our prayers & deepest sympathy to the family & friends of Joleen Corr.”
The trainee beautician was just 26 when she was critically injured in an alleged attack at her home in Downpatrick, Co Down, in December 2016.
Her ex-partner Michael O’connor is on remand in Maghaberry prison awaiting trial for attempted murder and GBH. He has always denied hurting the young mum.
Naomh Gall football club added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Corr family at this very sad time.”
