Pub hit by thieves for a third time

Burglars smash through a wall

Aaron Hempton, the owner’s son, said the burglars had to smash their way through a stud wall before getting into the main bar.

SDLP Assembly member Daniel Mccrossan said the break-in comes amid an “upsurge” in anti-social behaviour in the area.

He added: “It’s reprehensible that this local business has been targeted for the third occasion over a short space of time, leaving owners and staff feeling deflated that they cannot make an honest living without hoods swanning in and destroying everything they work tirelessly for.

“The message needs to be made very clear that these acts are nothing short of thuggery and those carrying them out need to get off the backs of the local
