IT’S BEEN SIMPLY SUPREME FOR MEMBERS

MEMBERS of the Supreme Horse Racing Club are still on cloud nine after enjoying a double at the recent Punchestown Festival.

The successful syndicate, which has all its horses in training with Willie Mullins, has enjoyed more than its fair share of success at the end-of-season meeting in recent years.

Very Much So claimed the Goffs Land Rover Bumper in 2014, Avant Tout won over hurdles and fences in 2015 and 2016 respectively while Open Eagle landed a valuable handicap hurdle on the final day last year.

Cadmium ensured the club enjoyed a fifth winner in as many years when running out a facile victor in a two-mile handicap chase and Kemboy then provided a sixth success when defying top-weight in a 100,000 euro novice handicap chase.

Steve Massey, racing manager for the club, said: “It was an amazing week. To have one horse win was fantastic and to have another the following afternoon was unbelievable.

“Each horse is syndicated separately. I think there are 18 owners in Cadmium and 14 in Kemboy, but a lot of the club members were there to enjoy the occasion and that’s what it’s all about.”

Both Cadmium and Kemboy are now likely to head off on their summer holidays.

Massey added: “Cadmium is a horse with huge potential. He’s gone up 9lb for winning and he’s rated 146 now. If we can keep him in one piece, he’ll be running in some big races.

Of Kemboy, he said: “He’s rated 156 now, which makes him the highestrated horse we’ve ever had.

“He’s only a six-year-old, he’s only had six runs over fences and it’s likely he’ll have his summer break now.”
