Weinstein’s wife: I cry for my kids. What will people say to them?
Brit breaks silence on film boss sex scandal
THE British wife of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein says the effect his sex scandal will have on their two children makes her weep.
Breaking her silence on the revelations about her husband’s predatory behaviour, Georgina Chapman added she was “naive”.
She also said: “I have moments of rage... confusion... disbelief.”
More than 80 women have accused Weinstein, 66, of sexual harassment, assault or rape.
The Hollywood producer has a five-year-old son and seven-yearold daughter with Georgina, 42.
The mum-of-two, who is filing for divorce, said: “I have moments when I just cry for my children.
“What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them?... They love their dad... I just can’t bear it for them.”
RAW
Fashion designer Georgina left the marital home in New York and returned to London after the scandal broke in October.
Allegations span from the 1970s to at least 2015. Georgina, who married Weinstein in 2007, said she lost 10lb in five days after first learning of the claims.
She said: “I couldn’t keep food down. My head was spinning...
“I knew I needed to step away and take the kids out of here.”
When asked by Vogue if she was ever suspicious about Weinstein’s behaviour, she replied: “Never.”
She added she thought they had a happy marriage. Georgina, who co-founded fashion brand Marchesa, said: “It’s still very raw.”
Weinstein is at the centre of police probes in London, New York and Los Angeles. The American has denied the allegations.
