There’s Mo way that I’m going to leave
ANFIELD ADVENTURE HAS ONLY JUST GOT STARTED FOR SALAH
MO SALAH has offered Liverpool fans the three words they long to hear: I’m going nowhere.
The superstar was crowned the Reds’ Player of the Season at a glittering awards ceremony last night, and afterwards explained he is desperate to be part of a new era of Anfield glory.
Salah insisted he is just at the start of what he believes will be an incredible
Liverpool story, and he beamed a huge smile when asked about his future, with the likes of Real
Madrid so keen to take him to
Spain.
When asked if he could reassure supporters, the Egypt international, 25, explained he is still at the beginning of an epic journey.
“I’m very happy here and everything is fine,” he said. “I have got ambitions for
the future with Liverpool. We had a great season and now we are in the Champions League final, and everyone is excited. It is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players too.
“We have had an unbelievable year. It is just the beginning.”
Salah was the star attraction at Liverpool’s player awards for 2018. He was delighted to pick up both the First Team Players’ Player of the Season, and the Standard Chartered Player of the Season award.
He then immediately left the awards ceremony at Anfield to fly to London, where he received the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.
It completed a clean sweep of honours in the Premier League, after he also lifted the PFA gong. As always, though, the 43-goal forward insisted he has shot to stardom only because of the team he plays in, and the way it gives him the freedom to express himself.
“I am very happy to win these awards. I had a good season but, without the help of my team-mates, it would have been very difficult,” he said.
“We all try to help each other. We all try to push each other. We are a team who fight for each other every day. I work hard to help my team. Now I want to finish the season in a good way.”
Salah may be homing in on the Golden Boot too, but hasn’t scored in his last two league games.
He added: “I’m fine. It’s not the end of the world.”
Trent Alexander Arnold, above, scooped Liverpool’s Young Player of the Year award.
