TUC boss: PM has only met with me once

TUC chief Frances O’grady revealed yesterday that Theresa May has met her just once since she became Prime Minister.

The boss of Britain’s unions told a Westminste­r lunch: “I have reflected on the fact I have met Angela Merkel, the President of Ireland (and) various others many more times.

“There are countries where it is recognised it is important to listen not just to business but to working people too. We represent six million of them.”

But she said she has met with Chancellor Philip Hammond and Brexit Secretary David Davis on a “semi-regular basis”.

Mrs May’s spokesman said: “The Prime Minister meets regularly with a range of industry leaders.” A CITY with music at its very heart, Manchester proudly sang out last night after a day of silent remembranc­e for the 22 victims of the terror atrocity there a year earlier.

Throughout the city yesterday thousands observed a minute’s silence in a mood of reflection and remembranc­e.

But last night the mood changed to one of celebratio­n as more than 3,000 singers took to the stage to belt out their defiance and prove that love, hope and music can beat fear and hatred.

It was a fitting tribute to the music fans killed at the end of Ariana Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena, and to a city that refused to be bowed by terror.

One of the choirs that took part in the Manchester Together concert was made up purely of children and their parents who survived the bomb.

Some broke down in tears as they sang Rise Up – but with their friends’ arms around them, and the support of the thousands packed into the city’s Albert Square, they were able to stay strong.
