TRIBUTES PAID TO CAR CRASH VICTIM MICHAEL
Town reeling at loss of football coach
A YOUTH football coach who died in a car accident has been described as an “absolute gentleman”.
Michael Ginesi, 34, was killed in a one car crash in lurgan, Co Armagh, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Soon after the tragedy, tributes started to appear on the Facebook page of the town’s Oxford Sunnyside FC.
In a further post, the club also said their Little Stars Academy yesterday and tonight’s training is also cancelled in the wake of the father of four’s death.
The club said: “After an exciting night for the club we are quickly brought back down to earth this morning on the devastating news that one of our own, Micky Ginesi, passed away in car accident.
“Micky was an absolute gentleman and always did his best for the club whether it be as a player or coach.
“He will be sadly missed by the Oxford Family. On behalf of everyone at
Oxford Sunnyside FC we send our Condolences to all the Ginesi family at this difficult time. R.I.P Micky.” That post was followed by a stream of tributes describing him as a “fantastic coach and an all round good guy”.
In a brief statement issued by the club, they said: “Micky was a young lad full of life.
“Loved the club so much as a player and as a youth coach. Loved his work as a chef in the Seagoe hotel but most importantly, loved his four kids.”
The police then said that a man in his 30s “has died following a collision in Lurgan”.
Inspector Jonny Francey added: “It’s believed the man was the driver of a car which struck a tree on the Annesborough Road at around 2.30am this morning, Saturday 26 May.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene. “Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision.” The police later confirmed that the man who died was 34-year-old Michael Ginesi from the Lurgan area.
