SIR Elton John will deliver a lecture setting out a vision for an Aids-free future in memory of Princess Diana.
The musician, 71, will call on governments and the private sector to fulfil the UN’S goal to eradicate the disease worldwide by 2030.
Politicians, health workers, journalists, celebrities and people living with HIV/AIDS will be among the audience on June 8 as Sir Elton also reflects on his close friendship with Diana and their shared commitment to fighting the disease.
The singer, who set up the Elton John Aids Foundation in 1992, said: “I am delighted to be able to deliver this lecture and to remember the enormous contribution Diana, Princess of Wales made to this cause.” FANS in the UK are staying far, far away from the latest Star Wars film.
Solo: A Star Wars Story took just £7.6million in its first five days on release, said distributors Disney.
It is the lowest opening for any Star Wars film since the franchise was revived in the late 1990s.
The Last Jedi, released five months ago, took £28million across its fourday UK opening, while 2016’s Rogue One notched up £17.3million.
Warm weather over the bank holiday weekend could have affected ticket sales, said film experts. “Blockbuster fatigue” was also blamed.
Solo, starring Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo, was released a week after Deadpool 2, which took £13million on its opening weekend.
