EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer has given his daughter Dani his “blessing” to have sex on television.
Actress and barmaid Dani, 21, will star in the new series of ITV2 reality show Love Island, which starts on Monday. But despite getting the OK from her dad, she doesn’t plan to get steamy on screen.
Dani said: “My dad has given his blessing to have sex. But I am not going to, though. He said that because he doesn’t want me to worry and wants to put me at ease. He is so laid back.
“If I fall in love, he will cry too. He is like, ‘Whatever you have got to do, go and do it’”
Dani said that actor Danny, 40, was not initially thrilled by her plans to do reality TV again, after she appeared on ITV2’S Survival of the Fittest earlier this year. But her nan convinced her to do Love Island, which is filmed in the Balearic Islands.
She said: “I thought, I’m young and while I’m single and not got much else...
“I spoke to my nan and she said, ‘Go and have eight weeks in Majorca. Go and enjoy yourself ’.
“My nan watches the show. She said, ‘Just be respectful’.”
Dani, whose mum is Jo Mas, said of her dad’s initial reaction: “He wasn’t overjoyed but he said to me, ‘I just want you to respect yourself ’. “He has given me his blessing. When it first came about, he was like, ‘Oh Dan, really?’. But he has never seen Love Island. “But after a while he was like, ‘If it makes you happy, then I’m happy’.” But even with her dad’s approval, Dani doesn’t plan to go the whole way on the programme. She said: “I would never do anything. I know everyone says they wouldn’t, but I just don’t think I would. She added: “If anyone has sex, I don’t care. But my dad is in the industry and I have to respect the fact that anything that comes at me will also be coming at him. And it’s not fair on him. He doesn’t need it at all.”
Dani, who has only had two serious relationships, hopes to find a new man on the show. She said: “I do love romance, I just have never really had it.
I watched Prince Harry marry Meghan and I cried my heart out.
“I want to get married. I just want my prince, but I seem to go for the beast.”
Dani, who currently works in a bar to supplement her income from acting jobs, hopes the show will lead to more on-screen work.
She said: “The acting stuff is hard and you can’t just live off acting, which is why I am open to the TV stuff.”
