Jordan’s delight at first cap

-

JORDAN THOMPSON hopes to muscle his way into Michael O’neill’s long-term plans after his late cameo against Panama.

The midfielder, who left Rangers 10 days ago after helping loan club Livingston seal promotion to the Scottish Premiership, earned his first cap as a late sub for Corry Evans.

Thompson (above), who showed some neat touches, said: “Once you get that wee taster, you definitely want more.

“It was an unbelievable feeling coming on and a brilliant experience. Do I want more caps? Definitely, definitely. Hopefully I can keep going well and impress the manager.”

Thompson, who spent four years with Manchester United as a youngster before joining Rangers in 2015, never envisaged making his national debut in 30C heat in Panama City.

“No,” he smiled. “When you’re playing football growing up, you just want to make your debut for your country but I wouldn’t have thought it would be in Central America.

“They were tough conditions but the boys did well to get the draw so it was a good result. We created some chances and it was great with the fans at the end.”

Thompson, 21, who spent the second half of last season on loan at

Livingston, is unattached after confirming his departure from Rangers on Twitter earlier this month.
