Together in the White House, the butt of so many jokes.. Donald with Kim Kardashian
DONALD Trump appears to have made an ass of himself after inviting Kim Kardashian to the White House to discuss prison reform.
The US President yesterday shared a photo of the reality star, famed for her curvy rear, in the Oval Office and tweeted about their “great meeting”.
It prompted relentless ridicule. Their meeting comes after Mr Trump pulled out of a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The New York Post’s front page called it “The other big ass summit” and nicknamed Kardashian, who often posts images of herself in skimpy clothing, “Kim Thong-un”.
Trump, US Commander in Chief, became Commander and Cheeks.
The New York Daily News joked Kardashian was “The only Kim he could get”. And in a further jibe at the former The Apprentice star, it said: “Overrated reality TV star meets Kim Kardashian in Oval Office”.
Kim, 37, spent an hour with Mr Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner on Wednesday to discuss the release of drug offender Alice Johnson. The mum of three, married to rapper Kanye West, later tweeted: “I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon.
“It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms Alice Marie Johnson, serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offence.” She added: “We are optimistic about Ms Johnson’s future and hopeful that she, and so many like her, will get a second chance at life.”
The President gave no hint about granting clemency but tweeted: “Great meeting with Kim Kardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing.”
Though political website Palmer Report joked: “There’s at least a 10% chance Donald Trump is meeting with Kim Kardashian because he thinks she’s the leader of North Korea.”
The New York Post received some backlash for its remarks, with some Twitter users branding them sexist. Court papers show Johnson was jailed without parole in 1994, aged 42, over a cocaine trafficking plot from her home in Memphis, Tennessee.
The great-grandmother was convicted of selling a controlled substance and is held at the minimum-security Aliceville Federal Correctional Institution in Alabama. Johnson sought clemency once before, in 2014 when Barack Obama was in office, but she was denied. Her legal team is hopeful about Kim’s meeting with Trump. Lawyer Brittany Barnett said: “It is now in President Trump’s hands to decide whether to save Alice Johnson’s life.”
