Supermum Maria is real Iron Woman
MUM Maria Greaves has become the first British woman to complete a triple Iron Man triathlon.
It was held over three days, involving a 7.2-mile lake swim, 336-mile bike ride and 78-mile run.
The mother-of-two, a police officer in Norfolk, finished in 59 hours on just 90 minutes’ sleep.
Maria, 37, said: “The hardest part was running after the cycling. That was when I was hallucinating.
“The grass had a sparkle to it and it was dark so my brain started to create images that weren’t there.
“I just had to try and stop myself getting paranoid and just keep reminding myself that it is all a part of the race.”
Two women and seven men took part at Avon Tyrrell in the New Forest. HUNKY personal trainer Adam Collard wasted no time trying to find his Eve as Love Island kicked off last night.
The Geordie, 22, made sure he introduced himself to all the females on the ITV2 show.
He said to the cameras: “Operation graft has been all day. I’ve had to pretty much lap everyone and cover every girl individually.”
Adam’s love rivals include Eyal Booker, 22, a model who says his hair is his best quality. He homed in on 21-year-old Liverpool model Hayley
Hughes. The group then demonstrated they were single and ready to mingle at a party at the idyllic villa in Spain where they will spend the next seven weeks. Host Caroline Flack said earlier she hoped there could soon be gay couples on the show, adding: “I don’t see any reason why not.” And narrator Iain Stirling said: “Anyone can enter... it totally could happen.” A source said: “It’s a question which keeps being raised so there could be potential further down the line.” Amber Davies, who won last year with Kem Cetinay, said she hoped the contestants were there for the “right reasons”, warning fame could be “overwhelming”. She told ITV1’S Lorraine: “You need a thick skin.”
