Life in the fast Lane
OUR GIRL BBC1, 9pm
MICHELLE Keegan is back as Army medic Georgie Lane – the military’s most beautiful recruit with the most unsmudgeable make-up and an ability to survive the deadliest of situations.
We’re six months on from 2 Section’s tour of Nepal, which ended with – tissues at the ready – the tragic but heroic death of Georgie’s big love Elvis.
So given that there’s now a Luke Pasqualino-shaped hole at the heart of the show, bosses have thankfully done the right thing and introduced a new hunk in the shape of Olly Rix.
His mysterious new character and Georgie don’t get off to the best of starts – threatening to lamp each other – but we’d wager there could well be a romantic rumble in the jungle before the series ends.
Besides, there’s no one else for her to have a romance with, what with Captain James still being happily married to Molly, and Privates Maisie and Rab too busy flirting with each other.
In between all this, 2 Section does still have time to do some soldiering – like training local forces in the fight against terror and starting a women’s health programme.
Oh, and rescuing a group of schoolgirls who’ve been kidnapped by Boko Haram.
Which means tackling a local crime boss and his band of ruthless mercenaries.
And while Georgie is normally the sensible one on the team – restraining Richards and her foolhardy “act first think later” tactics – this time round it’s Lane who’s putting herself and colleagues in danger when they go off grid.
If only there was a handsome Special Forces dude on hand to save her...
