Frans is out for revenge

- BY PETER CARROLL

SBG bantamweight Frans Mlambo says a revenge victory over former foe Stephen Loman will be “twice as sweet” with the Filipino’s title on the line tonight at Brave CF 13 at the SSE Arena.

Mlambo is a former amateur world champion and his professional trajectory was stifled when he suffered a decision loss to Loman in September 2016.

Since then, Loman has claimed Brave CF’S bantamweight title.

Now that “The Black Mambo” has worked his way back to a title shot, he has vowed not to make the same mistakes he feels cost him the first fight with Loman.

“I think it is a different story this time. I know he got the win over me before but I still feel like I’m going to destroy him.

“It’s actually kind of annoying me that I let him beat me the first time,” Mlambo said.

With Brave coming to Europe for the first time, Mlambo feels he has an opportunity to reconnect with Irish fans having contested his last number of bouts in the Middle

East.

“I feel like there was a lot of hype after I won the world title at amateur and then I kept that momentum after I got that big KO in my pro debut. The first loss to Loman really slowed me down,” he said.

“This is a really good feeling to get this rematch. It makes it double sweet that his title is on the line too.

“The fact that I’m basically at home doing it gives me a chance to remind the Irish fans what I’m all about.

“I’ve been away for a long time so hopefully I’ll have a chance to defend this title in Europe in the near future too.”
