A Four-year-old boy has had a miracle escape after scrambling to safety from a serious car crash.

The youngster was travelling with a male driver when the one-vehicle accident happened four miles from Portrush on Ballybogey Road in Co Antrim yesterday.

Emergency services attended the scene and arrived to find the child outside the car with the driver still trapped inside.

The boy was taken to safety as the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, assisted by the PSNI, worked at the scene.

Fire officers used cutting equipment to release the driver from the car which had flipped on to its side.

They were later taken to Causeway Area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
