Daniel’s wife on secret to happy marriage
DANIEL O’donnell and his wife have revealed the secret to their happy marriage – booze and respect.
Majella told how her teetotaler husband doesn’t mind her having a tipple, while the TV star is considerate of the singer’s devout religious beliefs.
Commenting on the recipe to their romantic success, the 58-year-old told RSVP magazine: “Respect, to just let each other be who you are. He is more religious than I am and doesn’t drink, but he would never tell me I shouldn’t drink.
“He respects whatever I do and lets me do it. If I did something that really annoyed him, he would say it to me.
“He doesn’t force his views on me. I don’t go to Mass very often, whereas Daniel would never miss a Sunday but he’d never say to me to go, never.”
Daniel, 56, also told how Majella’s children brought unexpected joy into his life. He said: “I learned I was very lucky to meet Majella. The extra joy that meeting her brought to my life.
“I had a terrific life if anyone had asked me, but to think that I could have so much more was incredible.
“When I met Majella I also got Michael and Siobhan and now grandchildren. “I would have had none of that. I had nieces and nephews I was very close to, but having this family and grandchildren is the best thing.”
After a hugely successful run, the third and potentially final series of Daniel And Majella’s B&B Road Trip on RTE is soaring in the TV ratings.
And Majella admitted staying in Daniel’s superfans’ homes was no big deal for the affable dynamic duo.
She said: “Once they get over the shock of him arriving it becomes normal. They just chat away and are happy out.”
