M&S festive ad is ‘turkey’

MARKS & Spencer has been rapped for claiming a Christmas food basket “cost less than last year”.

In newspaper ads it said a feast for eight was £10 less in 2017 than in 2016.

But it used a frozen not a fresh turkey in 2017 and a classic not a premium Christmas cake as in 2016.

It argued the “products were comparable” as small print stated the differences.

The Advertising Standards Authority told M&S not to run the ad again.
