The news at Trev
Former newsreader Sir Trevor Mcdonald says his fame shocked him most when he was walking down the street in London. Speaking at the festival, he said: “A bus driver stopped and said, ‘I must take a picture with you, I’ve just seen those Death Row documentaries’. I said, ‘This is not a bus stop’. Then I looked up and said, ‘You have passengers in the bus!’” Sir Trev, 78, is back on screen this month in Trevor Mcdonald: Return To South Africa. He was the first journalist to interview Nelson Mandela after his release. The prisoner-turnedpresident would have been 100 this year.
