BURNS SEEKS MUCH MORE

- BY PADDY HICKEY

EMBATTLED Down football manager Eamonn Burns admits his side “have a lot of things to work on” before they face Cavan in the second round qualifiers tie on Saturday week at Enniskillen.

“Our performance against Donegal was very disappointing, and so we have a lot of things to work on before we go to Brewster Park for the game against Cavan,” said Burns, (inset) on the back of the Ulster semi-final defeat at the hands of Donegal.

“We were very slow out of the blocks which didn’t help, and unfortunately Donegal had built up a sizeable lead before we scored for the first time. So it was always going to be very difficult for us after that.

“Donegal are a very experienced side and they’re also very well organised.

“They made things very difficult for us by putting a lot of pressure on our kickers.”
