Jack accuses Well ace over tackle

- BY GAVIN BERRY

RYAN JACK yesterday blasted Motherwell defender Cedric Kipre for the horror tackle that ended his debut season at Rangers.

The midfielder was on the end of a nasty challenge from the Frenchman during a clash between the sides at Ibrox last December.

Then Light Blues gaffer Graeme Murty angered Gers fans when he defended the Steelmen player at the time and claimed there was no intent from Kipre.

But raging Jack insists the tackle that saw him stretchered off in agony was deliberate and resulted in him going under the knife for a knee operation.

Jack did not feature again in a nightmare first campaign and while the 26-year-old is now back fit and raring to go under new boss Steven Gerrard he still feels a sense of anger towards Kipre.

Asked about the challenge, the Scotland cap said: “It was a shocking tackle. There is no point me saying I thought it was a good challenge or an unlucky challenge, he waited until I got the ball and then he knew he had a chance to hurt me – and he did.

“I’ve watched it back and every time I saw it, I can see it was not nice.” Rangers supporters were unhappy that Murty didn’t back his player and Jack said: “Everyone obviously has different opinions. If you sat 10 people down, maybe five would say it was a shocking tackle and five would say it wasn’t too bad.

“If I got asked at the time it would have been the same, I thought it was a shocking tackle then and I still do.” Meanwhile, Kenny Miller moved a step closer to accepting a playermanager role at top flight new boys Livingston after face-toface talks with the board yesterday.

The former Rangers striker (inset) met with the West Lothian club’s chairman and chief executive to discuss the chance to plot Livi’s attempt to survive in the Premiership.

Now his appointment could be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

Alan Stubbs has not yet given up on his bid to lure him to St Mirren as a player and Aberdeen boss Derek Mcinnes held talks with Miller in Florida last month.

But if Miller accepts the post he will be working alongside Rangers striker Ryan Hardie after Livi agreed another loan deal to take the player back to the club where he made a huge impact last season.
