Train misery as drivers hit by taxi chaos

TV star Christine on pregnancy

PROBLEMS getting train drivers to work by taxi has caused fresh disruption, continuing a week of misery for passengers.

Services on the Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink networks were delayed or cancelled yesterday.

Govia Thameslink Railway said: “The taxi provider had suffered a major failure of their booking system.”

It meant that “a large number of drivers were out of their correct positions or severely late-running”.

This issue followed two days of travel chaos for customers of South Western Railway.

Thousands waited for hours at London’s Waterloo on Tuesday evening after a fire under a train and other issues crippled services. CHRISTINE LAMPARD has told how she is embracing pregnancy and focusing on her baby’s wellbeing, rather than worrying about gaining weight.

The Loose Women host, 39, said she has ditched the gym since finding out she is expecting her first child with hubby Frank.

She told the Mirror: “I couldn’t care less about putting on weight as long as everything’s OK inside.

“I’m not training, just walking the dog. That’s it. I’m just taking it all in my stride.”

Christine, who is due in September, added: “I’m feeling great. I’m eating a lot of ice cream, but I think that’s more to do with the weather than the pregnancy cravings.”

The TV star is thrilled to be pregnant and still cannot believe it. She said: “Sometimes I forget I’m pregnant and then there’s moments I don’t believe it. You see your reflection and go, ‘Oh God, that’s me’.”

On Tuesday night she was at the launch of co-star Andrea Mclean’s book Confessions of a Menopausal Mum, at Devonshire Club in Central London. But she rushed home to be reunited with Frank. The former footballer has been away for two weeks doing World Cup commentary for the BBC.

Before he jetted to Moscow, the couple celebrated his 40th birthday. Christine said: “We had a dinner. He doesn’t like a big fuss. It was all lovely. The next thing is the baby.”

The star said: “We haven’t been thinking about names or doing a nursery or anything, not until nearer the time.

“I haven’t read any baby books as I’m blessed with two really good mates going through it at the same time. The best thing for me is talking to people. All the Loose Women give me their advice.”

Christine regularly sits on the ITV panel with the likes of Coleen Nolan and Stacey Solomon, but has not made a decision on maternity leave.

She said: “I haven’t really decided what I’m going to do about work. I’m really laid back about it all.”

Hinting at more babies to come, she added: “I’ve heard horror stories about labour and people say, ‘Oh, don’t do it again’, but then people always do. You forget what it was like and want another one.”
