JOS ANOTHER THRASHING OF THE AUSSIES!

Brilliant Buttler breaks more records in romp

worthy of your time and money as Ed Sheeran or the Rolling Stones.

Opening the batting he broke yet more records in this innings, scoring the fastest T20 fifty by an England batsman from just 22 balls as the team racked up 221-5, their highest score against Australia.

“It was awesome,” said Buttler. “T20 cricket is great, it is a license to play strong shots when the fielding restrictions are in play, and on a sunny evening with a great atmosphere it was a lot of fun.

“I got huge amounts of confidence from IPL. For my Rajasthan coach Mahela Jayawardene to take a punt on me up the top of the order was great and he just said, ‘Go and express yourself up there, it is a blank canvas’. I’ve got a huge amount of trust in my game and in my technique. That allows me to make good decisions.

“At times you won’t make the right call but I feel quite clear and calm at the minute.”

Australia were anything but calm throughout this one-off T20 match, despite thinking their Big Bash stars would cause England a few problems in their preferred format.

Don’t believe the hype. Kane Richardson is one of those stars and he was one of many to have a ‘dirty’ day as described perfectly by Ricky Ponting.

His four overs disappeared for 59 runs, he dropped a simple catch off Roy and misfielded too many times under the unforgiving noses of the Birmingham crowd to get away with it.

Aussie skipper Aaron Finch did his best to lift his team with a brilliant 84 in their chase, but once Chris Jordan (left) celebrated getting rid of fellow danger man Glenn Maxwell, the game was up.

With six losses from six, the Aussie limited-overs squad heads home thankful that their football team’s pitiful World Cup showing will take some of the heat off them.
