Stolen car involved in multiple smash as child hospitalised

OFCOM has received 2,525 complaints about Sunday’s Love Island, which saw Dani Dyer left devastated.

The Eastenders star, 22, burst into tears when she learned boyfriend Jack Fincham, 26, was in a villa with an ex-girlfriend.

The complaints related to “distress” caused to Dani.

The pair have now been reunited and last night on the ITV2 show admitted their “love” for each other.

Jack told her: “I do actually love you. I do love you.” THIS was the chaotic scene last night after a stolen car was involved in a crash that left seven – including a child – in hospital.

The collision on the Crumlin Road, at its junction with the Ardoyne shops in North Belfast, involved up to six vehicles and happened at around 7pm.

Police last night confirmed the incident has been referred to the Police Ombudsman’s Office to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

A huge cordon was put in place as crews worked to establish how many were injured and the scene was described as “carnage” by SDLP councillor for the area, Paul Mccusker.

Mr Mccusker last night said: “I would ask everyone to be patient while the road remains closed and to give the emergency services space to do their job. It would seem that reckless death drivers have again brought destruction and pain on innocent road users going about their daily routine.

“I am at the scene at the moment and there’s been a serious crash, around eight cars involved. It is a major incident.

“At the moment we are not sure what happened, there’s a lot of cars lying on their side and people are being treated on the road and doctors are arriving. It is quite serious.”

A number of houses in the area were also damaged in the collision with garden walls being destroyed.

A spokeswoman for the Belfast Trust confirmed five casualties were at the Royal Hospital but their condition was not known last night. Another patient was in a stable condition at the Mater Hospital and a child was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and later discharged.

Three fire crews, five ambulances and the air ambulance attended at the scene by car. Superintendent Muir Clark said: “The collision occurred at approximately 6.55pm and involved a number of vehicles including a stolen black Audi A1. “The Audi was reported stolen from Thirlmere Gardens in North Belfast during the early hours of Sunday.

“The matter has been referred to the Police Ombudsman’s Office who are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: “We sent five crews, four Rapid Response paramedics and one PCE crew and the HELMS crew attending by car. Four males were taken to the RVH, one male and one female to the Mater and one child to the Children’s.”
