Prince Louis naps through his chapel date
PRINCE Louis was so relaxed about his christening yesterday – he slept through the big day.
The 11-week-old royal, dressed in an off-white, frilly gown, was blissfully unaware he was the centre of attention at St James’s Palace.
He did not even stir as the cameras clicked and whirred, photographing Prince William and Kate for the first time with all three children as they entered the Chapel Royal.
The Duchess of Cambridge carried dozing Louis into the service as dad William lovingly held the hands of George, four, and three-year-old Charlotte.
Prince Harry and Meghan joined close family to celebrate the christening alongside Prince Charles and Camilla.
Louis Arthur Charles was wearing in the same christening robe his siblings wore – a replica of one made in 1841 for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby bent down to greet George and Charlotte, and shake the princess’s hand. As Kate chatted to the archbishop, she could be heard describing her sleeping son as “very relaxed and peaceful”. She added: “I hope he stays like this.” Kate and her husband chose three godfathers and three godmothers for Louis, all friends or family.
His godfathers are Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly and Harry Aubrey-fletcher, a close friend of William’s from both prep school and Eton College.
His godmothers are Lady Laura Meade, Kate’s old Marlborough College friend, Hannah Carter and lawyer Lucy Middleton, who is Kate’s cousin. The music included This Is The Day Which The Lord Hath Made by John Rutter, composed for the William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.
Following the ceremony, the family emerged with Charlotte clutching the order of service under her arm and waving. Duchess of Cornwall Camilla, who used her order of service as a fan, was heard commenting on how hot it had been inside the chapel.
