FIREFIGHTERS scrawled drawings on Grenfell Tower’s walls to coordinate rescues of those trapped inside.

Watch manager Brien O’keeffe told the inquiry he used a cross to show a flat that had been searched or where a body was.

He said: “I felt it was too much trying to brief crews who were quite stressed so I drew a picture of a tower as simply as I could.”

The fire on June 14 last year in North Kensington, West London, killed 72. THE devastated mum of murdered Alesha Macphail has thanked families who held a vigil for her dead daughter.

It is the first time Georgina Lochrane, 23, has found the courage to speak out after the death of Alesha, six.

She wrote on Facebook: “I have the full world helping me be strong and fight.”

Alesha was reported missing from her grandparents’ home on the Isle of Bute last Monday.

She was found dead in woods two-and-a-half hours later.

Georgina, known as Genie, wrote on the Isle of Bute Facebook page: “I have finally built up the courage to write this. I’d like to thank each and every single one of you for everything you have done for mine and Robert’s darling daughter.

“She will be looking down with that massive glowing smile and be so proud.” Genie added: “I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

A vigil was held for Alesha in Rothesay, Bute, on Sunday. Genie wrote: “Last night was beautiful. Sorry I could not attend. I will stand tall because this is what Alesha would want.” Elaine Newlands wrote: “Sending you lots of strength. Thinking of you all.” A 16-year-old, who cannot be named, has been charged with Alesha’s rape and murder. He appeared at Greenock sheriff court on Friday but did not enter a plea.
