George Clooney taken to ER after motorbike crash

He smashes into windscreen in 60mph collision

MEDICS treat George Clooney after his scooter hit a car at around 60mph, sending him flying 20ft in the air and into the windscreen.

The impact was said to have broken the Hollywood star’s helmet.

George, 57, was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after being treated in the road by emergency services.

Onlookers said he was doing roughly 60mph when he hit a blue Mercedes which appeared to cut across his path.

The American dad of two – on e of th e f a c e s of Mercedes – was joined at A&E by wife Amal but they l e f t s h o r t ly a f t e r. G e o r g e’s b i k e appeared to be a write-off but he has seemingly escaped without serious injury.

His representa­tive said last night: “He was treated and released from hospital. He is recovering at home and will be fine.” George, who starred as an A&E doctor in TV drama ER, crashed at around 8am yesterday in Sardinia on the way to the set of television mini-series Catch-22. Firefighte­rs also attended the scene of the accident in Costa Corallina on the north of the Italian It island.

It is not the first time he has had a lucky escape on two wheels.

He broke a rib when his HarleyDavi­dson collided with a car in the US in 2007. His then girlfriend broke her foot.

He has been seen on the road with Amal as his pillion passenger.

George, who has had a home in Italy for years, was criticised in 2013 for wearing a helmet made illegal there in 2010 because of safety concerns.

An Italian road safety organisati­on told him: “We know you try to set a good example... but you spoiled everything by wearing the pudding-bowl crash helmet.

“You have played a cop many times so we’re sure you will understand us.” George was later seen wearing legal helmets.
