STEVIE G IN CLEAR AFTER REFS RANT
RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard is set to escape an SFA rap for his Pittodrie post-match swipe at Scottish officials as the Light Blues launch an appeal against the red card for Alfredo Morelos.
Gerrard (inset) let rip after Sunday’s dramatic 1-1 draw with Aberdeen, insisting refs had been giving
Gers a raw deal for years.
He was raging at the red for Morelos as well as referee
Kevin Clancy opting not to send off Dom Ball after the Dons defender conceded a penalty.
But SFA disciplinary chiefs have looked at the manager’s comments and will not act.
It was feared Gerrard could be clobbered under SFA rule 72, which states club officals cannot ‘criticise the Decision(s) and/or performance(s) of any or all match official(s) in such a way as to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match officials’.
Speaking after Sunday’s showdown, where Dons kid Bruce Anderson struck a 93rd minute leveller, Gerrard said: “It seems like the world is against us today. But we’ll make sure we get better for that.
“We’ll make sure we try to put results to bed because it looks like some more decisions will go against us as the season goes on. It’s not just today, it’s been happening for a while. I believe it’s been happening for seasons.”
