Woman dies from carbon monoxide leak
A WOMAN died yesterday after a suspected carbon monoxide leak.
Firefighters were called to the house on the Drum Road in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, shortly before 7am yesterday.
They found significant levels of the gas and two neighbouring properties were evacuated for a short period.
A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters using gas monitors took readings from inside the property which found significant levels of carbon monoxide and ventilated the property.
“Our thoughts and sympathy are with the family of the lady who died.” A CANCER patient who was told her disease was terminal four years ago, today shares the incredible news she is free of the disease.
Melanie Kennedy spoke to the Daily Mirror as she was leaving her hospital appointment where a scan showed “no perceptible disease” in her liver.
The 40-year-old, whose treatment was initially refused to her on the NHS, revealed last October it is working despite her terminal diagnosis.
Melanie, from Bangor, Co Down, said her doctor described it as astonishing.
