David is a Charming prospect
DAVID’S CHARM may defy top-weight in the
Ladbrokes Ireland Handicap Hurdle, feature of Day 5 of the Listowel Festival.
John Joe Walsh’s charge must race off a mark a whopping 17lb higher than when beaten a half-length by the classy Lagostovegas in this race last year.
But the seven-year-old has made plenty of progress, having landed a valuable pot at Fairyhouse in December (off a mark of 134).
And, after two prep runs on the flat this summer, he finished ninth behind Sharjah in the Guinness Galway Hurdle last time, when unable to be competitive.
But David’s Charm is a course and distance winner. He’s proven in testing conditions and will have the help of Ambrose Mccurtin, successful twice on him last year and claiming a valuable 5lb off his top-weight burden.
Enda Bolger’s Ballyoisin is weighted to have a massive chance and looks the chief danger, along with the Mullins battalions.
Elsewhere on the card, Exchange Rate, representing Willie and Patrick Mullins, looks a point and shoot proposition, at an unbackable price, in the Listowel Failte Abhaile
Race.
Henry de Bromhead’s Pallaskenry is a hopeful nap to outpoint Its All Guesswork and Wonderoftheworld in the beginners chase.
And, if we ignore her last run in Ballinrobe (missed the kick and never in contention), Michael O’callaghan’s Quinns Red Rose might take advantage of her low draw in the fillies maiden.
