PIERS Morgan seems to have cemented his status as the go-to serial killer interviewer. Well, he and Sir Trevor Mcdonald.
Between them, they are working their way along America’s death row. In another chilling instalment, Piers meets Bronx serial killer Alex Henriquez, who until now has refused interviews since his conviction 28 years ago. Henriquez, found guilty of murdering two girls aged 10 and 14, and a woman of 21 in the Bronx, New York, is serving 75 years – but maintains he’s innocent.
Pulling up a chair next to Henriquez, Piers meets a perfectly polite and eloquent man, who even cries at one point – but is it a facade? There was national outcry after 10-year-old Jessica Guzman was killed in 1990, prompting the NYPD to investigate the string of murders that had haunted the Bronx for two years.
Henriquez knew all three girls and became the prime suspect. As Piers talks through the crimes, Henriquez has an answer for everything.
Piers also interviews the devastated mother of the 21-year-old victim, Lisa Ann Rodriguez. There is tension as we wait to see if Henriquez will slip up in his interview or finally admit guilt.
