TRIBUTES AS 18YR-OLD GIRL KILLED IN CRASH
Tragic Laura was ‘one in a million’
TRIBUTES have been pouring in for a teenage girl killed in a late-night road smash.
Laura Szewc, 18, died in a singlevehicle collision near the Derry-donegal border.
The crash occurred on the Letterkenny Road close to Nixon’s Corner at 11.30pm on Wednesday.
One friend said on social media: “You never know what’s around the corner.
“You were one in a million, Laura. This just proves only the best looks over us.
“I’ll never ever forget the memories with you. I am absolutely heartbroken.” The victim was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa.
Two other females in the car were taken to hospital.
There were no other vehicles involved

and police have appealed for witnesses. Yesterday morning friends of the former pupil at St Brigid’s College in Derry expressed their shock and sorrow over the tragedy.
One said: “Absolutely heartbreaking. One of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.
“Life is so cruel. Only just yesterday we were laughing together.”
Another added Laura “always made everyone smile”.
SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan said local people had been left devastated.
He added: “This is a terrible tragedy. The community is in shock and sadness that this girl has lost her life on our roads.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and with her friends.
“It’s important they are there for each other and we are here for them.”
The Letterkenny Road was closed overnight as police investigated the collision. It reopened shortly after 9am yesterday.
