I want to seal return with a Kris

- BY DARREN FULLERTON Glenavon Dungannon S

NEW Dungannon Swifts boss Kris Lindsay is relishing going toe-to-toe with his old club at Mourneview Park.

Lindsay will take up the Swifts reins for the first time at his old haunting ground just days after stepping down as Glenavon’s first team coach on Tuesday night.

And he couldn’t have been handed a tougher debut against the Lurgan Blues who lie top of the Danske Bank Premiership eight games into the new campaign.

“Football has a funny way of throwing up little twists like this,” said Lindsay. “I know a lot of people at Mourneview, but my sole focus now is on being Dungannon manager.

“Glenavon are flying at the minute and they’re top of the table, but we’ll have a gameplan and it’s a game I have every faith we can get a positive result from.”

Lindsay is keen to build on Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over reigning champions Crusaders, a result secured under caretaker boss Dixie Robinson.

“It was a huge result for the club and a great three points against Crusaders,” he said. “We’ll be looking to kick on now, win as many games as we can and climb the table.

“With the quality of squad we have, there’s no reason why we can’t be looking to move up the league.”

While the Swifts lie second bottom, Glenavon are at the summit after easing above Linfield thanks to a 2-0 midweek win over Ards.

Since losing 1-0 to Linfield on the opening day, Gary Hamilton’s men have taken an impressive 19 points from their last seven games.

Hamilton said: “We’re just hoping Kris doesn’t come back to haunt us.”
