FOUR IN A ROW FOR THE HARPS
Derrygonnelly 2-16 Ederney 0-10 Fermanagh SFC final
DERRYGONNELLY hit 1-8 without reply in the second half to be crowned Fermanagh champions for a fourth year in a row.
Their skipper Ryan Jones (above) led the way in Brewster Park scoring the opening goal and veteran Paul Ward hit the second to sink Ederney in Enniskillen.
Ederney were bidding to win a first Fermanagh title in 50 years and Marty Mcgrath, an Allstar midfielder in 2004, rolled back the years with an influential display.
But the underdogs were totally outclassed, particularly in the second half as Derrygonnelly went through the gears.
The Jones’ brothers dictated terms with Garvan nailing 0-5 and Conal with three secondbrendan half points and Ryan with 1-2 before picking up a black card in injury time.
Two Mark Mccauley frees gave Ederney a two-point lead and a stunning point from Marty Mcgrath had them 0-3 to 0-1 up. It was level at four point each before Ryan Jones grabbed the opening goal.
It was 1-7 to 0-7 at the interval and after Ryan Jones and Mcgrath traded scores but then the game turned decisively.
Ederney didn’t score again for 22 minutes and in between times, Derrygonnelly hit 1-8 with Paul Ward’s goal after 39 minutes putting clear daylight between them.
