CITY ARE DUN AND DUSTED

-

ARMAGH CITY slipped up on the proverbial banana skin away at Dunloy.

Two quick goals had the hosts in front and the away side couldn’t find a way to claw them back.

But Banbridge Town just about found a way past their tricky opponents Rathfriland

Rangers.

The Gers took the game all the way to extra time with a James Costello last-minute equaliser, before goals from Darren Mcgrath and Michael Allison (inset) added to Fra Mcguinness’s opener to move the Town into round three. Also taken to extra time were Tobermore who played out a cracking cup tie against Ardstraw.

The teams were locked at three goals apiece at the end of 90 minutes before Healy and Keane pulled Tobermore clear to seal a 5-3 win.

Elsewhere, goals from Michael Mcmullan and Darren Gallagher helped Sport and Leisure Swifts to victory away at Kilmore Rec. It was also 2-1 in the game between Rosemount Rec and Annagh United but it was the Portadown side which was left disappointed.

One of the ties of the round came at The Dub where Queen’s University eventually progressed past Dollingstown in a game which finished 4-3.

Matt Hughes scored twice with Adam Robinson and Lorcan Mcilroy also on the scoresheet for the victors while Gray, Moffett (pen) and Lavery were on target for the Dollybirds.
