Duchess of Ambridge

Kate’s Archers look at park

HER official residence may be in London but the Duchess of Cambridge shows she is a country girl at heart.

Kate wore an outdoorsy outfit worthy of a character from The Archers as she returned to royal duties after maternity leave yesterday.

She was a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace but would have looked the part in Ambridge, the fictional village the Radio 4 soap is set.

It was Kate’s first official engagement since giving birth to Prince Louis in April.

She visited Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden in Paddington, West London, which gives outdoor access to schoolchildren who may not otherwise have it. Kate wore Zara skinny jeans, a grey jumper and a £395 Joseph silk shirt.

She teamed them with a khaki jacket from Swedish brand Fjallraven, and her favourite £475 Penelope Chilvers boots which she has been wearing for 10 years.

One onlooker said: “Kate obviously left nothing to chance by being out in the wild, even if it was a city park.

“The children loved getting to show her everything they had learned.”

The Duchess helped youngsters plant seeds and gather leaves to make crowns. Zoe Stroud of Sayers Croft said that Kate “loved getting amongst the ivy”.

Kate, also mum to George, five, and Charlotte, three, is launching a campaign to help disadvantaged children.
