AN expectant mum rescued from the Indonesian tsunami ruins yesterday gave birth to triplets.

Atina, 31, safely delivered two girls and a boy via an emergency caesarean after being airlifted from the stricken city of Palu with husband Zaenal when their home was wrecked.

The moment of good news comes as the death toll last night hit 1,347.

Amid the horror on the island of Sulawesi, the bodies of 34 students were pulled from a church swamped by a landslide following the earthquake and tsunami.

Elsewhere, the bodies of a father and daughter were discovered hugging, frozen in a final embrace.

Indonesian authorities fear they will uncover many more bodies in the coming days, with dozens of people believed to be trapped under their collapsed homes. The search for survivors was said to be all but over. Fishing boats, some 100ft long, can be seen on the roadside, 330ft from the bay in which they were docked, next to houses, shops and businesses that have been completely wiped out.

Cars lie flipped and thrown far from where they were parked by the 20ft wave, caused by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake. An estimated 61,867 survivors have been displaced but the United Nations’ disaster relief agency believes up to 191,000 people are in urgent need of assistance.

Only small numbers have so far been evacuated to another Indonesian island, Java, including 122 foreigners who were in Palu.
