Fab’s Arc warning over Enable

- BY DAVID YATES

ANDRE FABRE claims there are question marks against Enable as she bids for back-toback Prix de l’arc de Triomphe victories this Sunday.

The John Gosden filly is as short as even money to repeat her Chantilly success of last October when Europe’s middle-distance championship returns to Longchamp.

But Fabre (below), the most successful trainer in Arc history with seven wins, believes Enable’s interrupted preparation — she had to wait until Kempton last month to make her return — could count against Frankie Dettori’s mount.

“Enable hasn’t been running much this year, so there are question marks,” Fabre said.

“She is in the hands of a very skilful trainer and she has won her trial, but she has got to confirm she is as good as she was before.”

Fabre’s Waldgeist, who beat stable companions Talismanic and Cloth Of Stars in the Prix Foy on Longchamp’s Arc trials card last month, is 6-1 third favourite behind Newmarket-trained pair Enable and Sea Of

Class.

“His preparation confirms that Waldgeist is my best chance, but I am also happy with Cloth Of Stars, who was second last year,” added Fabre.

Irish and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Sea Of Class will appear among the supplementary Arc entries — at a cost of €120,000 — today, while the prospect of rain has raised hopes Cracksman could join his stablemate Enable in Paris.
