FA probe Wembley fraud claim

- BY JOHN CROSS AND ADRIAN KAJUMBA

THE FA are looking into claims of “systemic corruption” surrounding the £600million sale of Wembley.

Craig Kline, Fulham’s former assistant director of football, made the allegations in two explosive Twitter posts.

Kline tweeted: “Dear FA Council (+relevant police, MPS, regulators, press etc). I have key evidence of systemic corruption relevant to the Wembley vote which I’d like to submit. Please request this info from me...

“So much fraud in football, FA where are you? ... I have a lot of evidence, authorities please request.”

Fulham owner Shahid Khan has offered the FA £600m cash plus £300m in retained revenues for the stadium.

That deal has been inching closer to completion over the last six months and there is an FA Council meeting tomorrow.

The claims first surfaced after Kline was dismissed by the Premier League club last year and have been denied by Fulham.

However the FA yesterday confirmed it was investigating.

“We have recently been contacted by Craig Kline who has made a series of allegations about Fulham FC,” said the FA.

“We are currently in the process of reviewing these allegations.”

Jim Woodcock, spokesperson for billionaire businessman Khan (above) said: “This is nothing more than the same ongoing nonsense and bogus claims made by a former employee who left the club in 2017.

“Nothing here merits a further response.”

Kline was dismissed after a series of fallouts with key figures at the club.

The allegations were passed to police at the time but came to nothing.
