Healy’s urging players to go for the jugular

- BY DARREN FULLERTON

LINFIELD boss David Healy has ordered his players to show no mercy in front of goal against struggling Ards at the Bangor Fuels Arena.

Ards, who lie 11th with just one win from 11 league outings, are outsiders heading into today’s showdown with the league leaders.

But Healy (inset) is aware Colin Nixon’s men are one of only two teams this season to hold the Blues scoreless thanks to last month’s gutsy 0-0 draw at Windsor Park.

“They’ll probably set up in a similar way, only on a smaller, tighter pitch, so we know what type of game to expect,” he said.

“When the moments come, we have to take them. Hopefully when we do make and create chances, we capitalise on them.”

Second-placed Glenavon, who lie two points below Linfield with a game in hand after a bright run of form, face Glentoran at The Oval.

But while the Glens have lost their last two games - to rivals Linfield (0-1) and Crusaders (0-3) Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton is wary of his former side.

“This is the best Glentoran side I’ve seen in five or six years,” he said.

“They are strong right through the middle and done really well in the games I’ve seen them play.”

Elsewhere, Cliftonville host Warrenpoint Town at Solitude, while fourth placed Ballymena United are at home to Dungannon Swifts.

David Jeffrey’s Sky Blues, who defeated the Welders 5-0 in the County Antrim Shield midweek, have won their last four in all competitions.

Ards v Linfield; Ballymena United v Dungannon; Cliftonville v Warrenpoint Town; Coleraine v Crusaders; Glentoran v Glenavon.
