CURTIS ALLEN confidently predicted his 100th Glentoran goal would arrive at The Oval on Saturday – and the striker duly delivered.

It may have taken the 29-year-old almost two months to move from 99 to the ton but in the end he needed only 12 minutes of this game to break the deadlock.

The ace predator picked the pocket of dithering defender Dave Elebert before rolling the ball into the empty net – and how he enjoyed it.

Robbie Mcdaid and skipper Marcus Kane got in on the scoring stakes before Allen produced another tidy finish as he started out on the road to another century.

“I woke up feeling good and decided today was the day for the 100th goal,” beamed Allen. “Goals are a bit like buses – you wait for ages on one and then two come along together.

“It didn’t bother me whether it was from 30 yards or one yard. The defender hesitated and I manage to rob him.

“Although I was at a tight angle, I was just delighted to see it hit the net. I was pleased with the second one, it was a decent finish.

“To score over 100 goals for this club is a great achievement but it’s also a massive honour. It’s really still sinking in.”

Ards chief Colin Nixon (inset) admitted his boys were outclassed on the day.

“We conceded a bad opening goal and never really got going after that,” he said. “It was the poorest performance we’ve had all year. We never looked like getting back into it. We were well beaten. I’m not into making excuses – as a unit we were very poor.”

Elsewhere, climbed to fourth in the table with an impressive 2-1 win over at The Showgrounds.

A superb Levi Ives free kick and Rory Donnelly header had the Reds ahead before the Bannmen, who have won just one of their last six league outings, hit back through Darren Mccauley.

And moved to within a point of the top six after Michael Mccrudden’s stunning strike secured a 1-0 win at
