MY FRIEND’S HUSBAND IS A LOVE RAT

I’ve discovered my best friend’s husband has been sleeping with one of his colleagues.

I feel angry with him and heartbroken for my friend, as they’ve only been married for 18 months. She thinks he’s the perfect guy and worships the ground he walks on, so how on earth can I tell her this news?

I’m really torn about what to do. My friend is so excited about their new home and she’s talking about starting a family – how can I burst her bubble?

This is a really tough one and, actually, whichever way you look at it, it’s a no-win situation.

If you tell her, she’ll be devastated and, if you don’t, you’ll have to carry that knowledge around and keep it from her, which will be hard and pretty stressful.

You could always talk to her husband first and tell him what you know. Perhaps that will prompt him to take some responsibility for what he’s doing and either end the affair or tell his wife himself.

If you do decide to tell your friend, then just be prepared that you could be the one getting dumped if they work it out.

I know you have her best interests at heart and, personally, I’d want to know if a friend had that kind of information about someone I was dating, but she might not feel the same.
