RAPED AT HER SCHOOL
Teenage boy quizzed by PSNI officers over sex attack allegations
A TEENAGE boy has been arrested after being accused of raping a female pupil at a school.
He was removed from the Co Down facility and questioned by the PSNI last month.
The boy was released on police bail and his education is continuing elsewhere as inquiries continue.
A source said: “This is a devastating situation which is being taken very seriously
by the school and by the authorities.
“The education of both pupils is continuing but not in the same space. It’s a matter of absolute regret that any young person should be involved this type of conversation.
“Counselling and support have been offered.”
The teenage girl made the rape complaint last month following an alleged attack after class time on the school property.
A report to the school resulted in the boy’s arrest and the subsequent questioning by detectives about the claim.
A PSNI spokesman said: “Police are carrying out inquiries following a report of an incident at a [Co Down] school last month.
“A teenage male was arrested and has since been released on bail. Inquiries are continuing.”
The families of both children have been informed.
The Mirror spoke to the headteacher who confirmed police were leading the investigation.
A spokesperson for the school said: “All appropriate safeguarding procedures have been promptly and properly implemented by the school.
“Child protection and Safeguarding is and continues to be our absolute priority.”
