MURDER PROBE AFTER BODY OF WOMAN FOUND

Man arrested over death of 59-year-old

- BY CHRIS SHERRARD

A MURDER probe was launched last night after a woman’s body was discovered by her sister.

Concerns were raised for Pauline Kilkenny when she didn’t turn up for work at Centra in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, yesterday.

A short time later the 59-year-old’s sister discovered her body in her house in the remote Cornacully Road area of the town. A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as well as suspicion of possession of cannabis and theft of a vehicle. He remains in police custody at this time.

Det Chief Insp John Caldwell said: “The victim’s body was discovered in her home by her sister at around 1pm today, November 13, 2018, after concerns had been raised when she didn’t turn up at work.

“Contents of the victim’s handbag and her car had also been removed from the property. A postmortem has yet to take place but I am treating this as murder. My thoughts go out to the victim’s family, including her sister who will no doubt have been left traumatised by the discovery of her sister’s body.

“I’m appealing to anyone who has any information to contact detectives at Serious Crime Branch on 101 quoting reference 573 13/11/18.

“Alternatively information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.” Independent Councillor Bernice Swift told the Mirror the entire community has been plunged into shock.

She said: “I express my sincere condolences to the entire family circle of Pauline Kilkenny on her horribly tragic and wholly shocking death.

“The thoughts and prayers of the Belcoo and neighbouring parish community are with the family during this traumatic time of grief and loss.”
