Seven wins on bounce, five points clear, goal difference of plus 38... City look INVINCIBLE

IT WAS yet another Manchester City masterclas­s and already it seems impossible to imagine anyone stopping them.

Pep Guardiola’s champions toyed with Watford to go five points clear at the top of the table and, perhaps even more ominously, they already have a goal difference of 38.

City could have won more comfortabl­y and had to survive a nervy last few minutes after Abdoulaye Doucoure pulled one back for Watford but they are still arguably the most entertaini­ng team of the Premier League era. It really is a treat every time you watch them.

It probably does not feel like that for Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and the rest but they are devastatin­gly brilliant with their passing and movement.

Guardiola has built a team as dangerous and as dominant in English football as his Barcelona team used to be in the rest of Europe. That is why it feels like City are always the hottest ticket in town and, after a seventh successive league win, it also begs the question as to whether they can go the season unbeaten.

Riyad Mahrez was the architect of this victory with a goal and an assist for Leroy Sane as they almost take it in turns to be the star of the show.

Incredibly, Guardiola even rested mainstays Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte and yet their stand-ins were comfortabl­y good enough.

We should not even forget Watford have given big teams a test this season but City were imperious for 85 minutes.

If it had not been for Watford keeper Ben Foster the scoreline would have been even bigger but he looked as if he was playing City on his own at times in the first half.

David Silva pulled the strings in midfield, Sane’s pace was frightenin­g and Mahrez looked dangerous every time he got the ball. Foster made a brilliant treble save early on to deny Mahrez and then stopped both Silvas as the game was so one-sided it was almost embarrassi­ng.
