This New challenge is big one

- Newry City Linfield BY DARREN FULLERTON

LINFIELD boss David Healy is urging his players to bag “another big three points” in today’s early kick-off at Newry City.

The Blues trail leaders Ballymena United by two points at the midway point of the campaign, but have the chance go top before the Sky Blues kick-off at 3pm.

The Big Two giants, who beat Dungannon Swifts in the Betmclean League Cup semis on Tuesday night and have striker Daniel Kearns back fit again after a foot injury, are favourites to chalk up another win.

But Healy is taking nothing for granted against a City side who have lost just one of their last four league games.

“Newry beat Coleraine live on TV a couple of weeks ago and I also saw them almost get a result against Ballymena, so we know what they are capable of,” he said.

“It’ll be a test after playing extra-time against Dungannon midweek, but the lads will be recovered and prepared. Hopefully we can churn out another big three points.”

Elsewhere, Cliftonville – fresh from beating

Glenavon 4-2 at Solitude last week – travel to Ards, who are four points adrift at the foot of the table.

Crusaders will look to bounce back from their midweek League Cup defeat to Ballymena when they host Dungannon Swifts at Seaview, while Glentoran are at home to Warrenpoint.
